Music Hack Day Amsterdam
24th – 25th April, 2010
Mediamatic Amsterdam

At Music Hack Day Amsterdam developers, designers, hackers and invited journalists will explore and create the next generation music applications and hacks. Music Hack Day Amsterdam brings together at least 150 eager participants and 15 companies.

Companies such as 7digital, Echonest, Twones, RjDj, Last.fm, 3voor12, Songkick, SoundCloud will all be opening up their full API’s to the developers. Several of these companies will in fact be launching new API’s or extending their existing offerings especially for the event. Meanwhile workshops will be held by Steim, who will explore the physical realm of music.

The goal of the event is to rapidly prototype and build new projects, working through the night to complete them in time and present them on Sunday afternoon. A selection of prizes are then awarded by the companies to the teams who produce the best ideas using their API’s.

And to make Music Hack Day Amsterdam even better, we need you! Signups are going fast nd there are only a limited amount of places available, so sign up fast.

One thing that could be improved next time, was the flaky WiFi. Due to this, the Music Hack Day did not work out as we had planned it. So we decided to extend the Music Hack Day for a month. This means there is still untill the 26st of November to work on protoypes, come up with amazing concepts and build the most awesome mash-ups you can imagine. At December the 1st, we will decide who has won the brand new Sonos S5 Set.

If you have any questions or comments, do not hesitate to contact us. If you were there, thanks for attending. And thanks in advance to see the hacks you are building or have build- we’re looking forward to see them. And thank you Vodafone, Sonos and Amsterdam Dance event – for sponsoring the event and helping us in many ways.

If you’ve already build something, started prototyping or have an amazing concept and you need help, we’re pretty sure this will increase your chances on all the prices that can be won. It’s worth it,  because Sonos, The Echo Nest and Vodafone are all giving away some really nice prices for the best hacks built. If you want to get a head start, here is some extra information.

We expect more than 80 people attending this part of the day, most of the people who have registered are coders or designers, but we also have some hardware Arduino hackers coming to rapidly hack things together. If you want to do some serious hardware hacking or circuit bending – don’t forget to bring your own tools!

While the day is open for anyone to have a talk, we have an RjDj workshop and a STEIM workshop planned. Also, Vodafone (one of our sponsors), will give a short talk on their new ’360′ service they will launch. You’re welcome to join us here, but feel free to do whatever you want.
