Speakers
We’ve been working hard to fill up the speaking line up with the best and most relevant people in the Music & Web industry. And we’re in discussion with speakers a lot of speakers a blend of decision makers from the European & American Internet and Music scene, technology entrepreneurs, start-ups and innovators. At the moment we can confirm:
Brian Whitman (The Echo Nest) teaches computers how to make, listen to, and read about music. He received his doctorate from the Machine Listening group at MIT’s Media Lab in 2005 and his masters in Computer Science from Columbia University’s Natural Language Processing group in 2000. His research links automatically extracted community knowledge of music to its acoustic properties to “learn the meaning of music.” His composition and sound art projects consider the effects of machine interpretation of large amounts of media, such as the first actual “computer music” (as in music for computers) of “Eigenradio.” As the co-founder and CTO of the Echo Nest Corporation, Brian architects an open platform with billions of data points about the world of music: from the listeners to the musicians to the sounds within the songs.
RjDj is a service that ‘delivers an unparalleled musical experience courtesy of some of the craziest musical thinkers around’, states their website. There is nothing much to add to this, just try it and be amazed. There will be several people from RjDj at Music & Bits so that you can ask everything you always wanted to know about the application. Be sure not to miss this.
Anthony Volodkin created The Hype Machine in April 2005 in his dorm room at Hunter College and has been unable to stop thinking about how people discover music ever since. Today, more than 1 million people turn to Hype Machine to find out about new acts every month. Prior to this he spent six years doing IT consulting and crisis management at Brainlink International, Inc while constantly carving out evenings to see live music. Anthony was born in Moscow, Russia and has been living in Brooklyn, New York since he was 12.
Eric Wahlforss is a co-founder of Berlin-based SoundCloud where he is currently CTO. His main interest lies in emerging web technologies and their applications. His love for music and background as electronic music artist Forss play key roles in his work on SoundCloud. Before moving to Berlin and starting SoundCloud he co-founded web consultancy network Strategy & Interaction in Stockholm and co-authored a book on trust in online social spaces. Earlier he worked as an interaction designer for location-based services company gate5. He can be found on the web at http://eric.wahlforss.com/ and physically in Berlin-Mitte
Dave Haynes will moderate the Music Hack Day part of the conference, he is UK manager for SoundCloud and has experience and moved from selling good old fashioned records to focusing on the latest trends in digital music.
Maybe we will add more speakers to this list. But if you haven’t registered yet, be sure to do this a soon as possible because we can only invite a limited amount of attendees.
